Airports Council International (ACI) is a not–for–profit organization representing commercial airports worldwide. Its structure includes five geographical regions, which include Africa, Asia-PacificEuropeLatin America-Caribbean, and North America.

ACI Africa was established as a region of ACI in 1991, in conformity with ACI by-laws. The internal rules of the region were amended and updated during the 23rd ACI Africa Regional Annual General Meeting, Conference and Exhibition, held in Durban, South Africa in October 2014. ACI Africa does not have a legal status separate from ACI to which it is an integral part. However, as a region, ACI Africa like the other ACI regions is self-governing under its own regional internal rules.
